Zander vs. chocolate chip pancakes

On special days (like holidays) or days that Matt's not home for dinner, I make chocolate chip pancakes. Matt doesn't believe in Brinner (breakfast for dinner), he calls it unnatural. I think he's ridiculous and that you can eat pancakes and eggs any time of the day or night, at least I can. Anyway, I always make a lot so we'll have leftovers to reheat throughout the rest of the week (or at least a couple days). Because Easter counts as a special day, I made chocolate chip pancakes and eggs for breakfast on Sunday.

Zander decided that he really likes chocolate chip pancakes. In all honesty, Zander really likes all foods. He eats anything and everything for the most part. My favorite kind of eater, the nondiscriminatory one. Zander decided he likes pancakes so much, he ate four full size ones. And then went on to eat a banana and an eight ounce bottle.

My favorite kind of kid, the one that packs food away. And then runs towards the bathtub, so we can get all that chocolate out of his hair, eyebrows and behind his ears.

Overnight, it seems...

Can someone please tell me how this:

changed to this overnight?

This:

to this:

And lastly, this sweet and innocent angel baby:

To this, maddening, infuriating, loving, funny child that warms my heart.

Zander, I love you.
I can't wait to watch you grow up and become a boy and then a man.

FRG Easter Lunch

Our FRG hosted an Easter Lunch with food, games and an egg hunt this past Sunday at Beacon Hill Park on base. The day couldn't have gone any better than it did! The weather was perfect, there was a great family turn out and the kids had a blast! All of the hard work that went into planning and setting up the event was completely worth it when we saw the kid's running down the hills searching for the eggs. The Easter event that's run by MWR (Moral, Welfare and Recreation) is this coming weekend and is always over-crowded and more of an egg grab (they don't hide anything, it's just grab what you can as fast as you can). While we'll still attend that Eggstravaganza, it was more exciting for the kid's to actually search and race around collecting the eggs.

AK Plaza

Last Tuesday, we made the bus trip to AK Plaza in downtown Pyeongtaek. It's about a 10 minute bus ride and only cost us 1000W (roughly $.70) to ride one-way. AK Plaza is the train station for Pyeongtaek (that's the closest city to us) and is this huge building with 7 or so floors full of shops and restaurants. It was a really fun trip that let us experience the city and riding public transportation. We took the trip with our neighbors upstairs, ate lunch and shopped a little. Below are pictures from our adventure, the books are children's books we found in the Korean bookstore. We also had dessert at Dunkin' Donuts (always a win!).

Park on the Hill pictures

Thankfully the weather's been nice enough that we've been able to spend more time outside! We went to the "park on the hill" with our upstairs neighbors and let the kids work off some energy.

Strawberry Patch field trip

Last Monday, we took a field trip with the Humphrey's Playgroup to a Strawberry Farm north of Seoul. It was about an 1 1/2 hour bus ride one way (definitely my limit) and we spent a couple hours in the strawberry patches, running around and learning how to make jam. Both boys had a great time! It took a couple minutes for them to realize that you could eat the strawberries straight off the vine, but it didn't take that long! Zander couldn't stay out of the bushes, he wanted to eat everything! At the end, we got to take home two quarts of freshly picked strawberries, a jar of freshly made jam and two strawberry plants.
